Cafe Operations Manager

Location: Head Office

We are presently seeking an individual to fill the position of Cafe Operations Manager. The preferred candidate should be an experienced chef or restaurant / cafe owner looking to transition into a managerial role within a multi site business. 

As a Cafe Operations Manager you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of all our in-house kitchens. 

Key Responsibilities:

Culinary Excellence: Utilise your culinary expertise to maintain and elevate the quality of food and beverages served across all kitchen locations.

Food and Beverage Quality: Ensure the consistent quality of coffee and food items by training staff in preparation methods and adhering to established recipes and standards.

Menu Development: Develop and update menus, introducing new and innovative items that reflect current trends.

Inventory Control: Manage inventory levels, track stock, and place orders as needed to meet demand.

Waste Minimisation: Implement strategies to minimise waste, control portion sizes, and monitor product expiration dates to reduce unnecessary loss.

Supplier Relationships: Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and source high-quality ingredients while controlling costs.

Food Safety: Enforce food safety and hygiene standards to maintain compliance in food handling, sanitation, and cleanliness.

Staff Management: Recruit, train, roster and supervise kitchen staff to provide exceptional customer service and maintain a high standard of performance.

Customer Satisfaction: Monitor customer feedback, address complaints, and proactively seek ways to enhance the customer experience.

Financial Management: Work within budget constraints, analyse financial reports, and implement cost-effective measures to maximize profitability.

Operational Efficiency: Streamline kitchen operations, optimise workflow, and implement best practices to enhance efficiency while maintaining quality. 

Maintaining Kitchen Aesthetics: Oversee the kitchens’ appearance and cleanliness, ensuring it meets or exceeds customer expectations.

While being primarily responsible for each kitchen, you will also work closely with each store manager to ensure the seamless functioning between the stores and kitchens.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a chef and cafe owner or a similar culinary leadership role.
  • Culinary degree or relevant certification.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of culinary trends, techniques, and best practices.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
  • Financial acumen for budgeting and cost control.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • High standards of cleanliness and food safety knowledge.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to travel between kitchen sites as needed, working weekends and holidays (when required)
  • Participate in the establishment of new kitchen locations

Position Details:

  • Full Time
  • 40 hours / week
  • Monday to Friday 7am-3pm
